Critics weren’t particularly kind to the charming young journalist below when they reviewed his new movie, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
The public has, as is so often the case, proven the critics wrong. Some are now predicting that Borat will open at $30 mil or higher. I’ve guessed that it will top at least 40mil cdn.
Sarah and I saw the movie on Friday, and it was the funniest movie I have ever seen, hands down. It is filthy, misogynistic, and horribly anti-Semitic (the creator and actor behind Borat is Sasha Cohen, a Jewish comedian from the UK, and he speaks fluent Hebrew throughout the whole move), but if you leave your morals at the door its a roaring good time. I’ve never laughed that hard in my life!
There wasn’t an open seat in the theatre, and Deadline Hollywood Daily is reporting that some theatres are standing room only.
